"Jacques Schwarz-Bart è stato al centro di diverse rivoluzioni musicali: neo soul accanto a D'angelo ed Erika Badu, New Jazz come membro fondatore di Roy Hargrove RH Factor. Ha creato due nuovi stili in ascesa: Gwoka Jazz e Voodoo jazz, che riunisce la musica jazz con le sue origini afro-caraibiche e spirituali.La scrittura impressionista di Jacques, il tono potente e il linguaggio ad ampio raggio - sia lirico che spigoloso - hanno alimentato una presenza crescente sulla scena mondiale.Il modo di suonare di Jacques mi ricorda un albero di ciliegio in fiore. Le sue melodie sono come fiori meravigliosamente profumati, mentre il suo groove fornisce una solida base come un tronco profondamente radicato. Pochissimi sassofonisti hanno il suo equilibrio tra puro lirismo e funk a cui puoi aggrapparti. Adoro suonare con lui. -Jacques Schwarz-Bart è nato in Guadalupa. I suoi genitori sono entrambi scrittori ampiamente acclamati. Suo padre André ha vinto il premio Goncourt e sua madre ha scritto diversi gioielli della letteratura caraibica. Dopo essersi diplomato alla Scuola di governo francese (Sciences Po Paris), Jacques ha lavorato per il Senato francese. Apparentemente era destinato a una carriera come statista. Ma nello stesso tempo si stava delineando un altro percorso: un percorso di musica e misticismo. Jacques ha scoperto il misticismo africano attraverso Gwoka Music. Le cerimonie chiamate Lewoz si svolgevano di notte nell'oscurità della campagna nei campi di canna da zucchero, dove ritmi e canti emanavano un richiamo spirituale. JACQUES SCHWARZ BART

JIM CUOMO TRIO "13 SONGS"

Jim Cuomo: Chicago saxophonist, avant-garde performer, musical director, award-winning story-teller and world-renowned composer. In the day, he collaborated with the likes of Tim Hardin and Thin Lizzy, and performed on Marianne Faithfull’s album ‘Broken English’.These days, besides performing gigs with The Jim Cuomo Trio, he also makes time to mentor my son Euan with his clarinet. They play his original compositions, some jazz classics, and plenty of improvisation – a style that Jim calls “post-jazz” or “jazz different.” As he explains, “It’s a means to position it for people who need categories.” Whatever it is they do, for an hour each week, our suburban home of squabbling kids and domestic chaos seems transported  to a place of intrigue and promise. SOGGY PO' BOYS "PERHAPS IT IS TIME TO GO HOME"

The Soggy Po' Boys were born on Mardi Gras, 2012. Makes perfect sense given their name, and the fact that they’re a New Orleans flavored octet.Residing in Seacoast, New Hampshire, the Po’ Boys have been honing their craft every Tuesday night, first at the late Barley Pub, and now at Sonny’s Tavern – both in the band’s hometown of Dover. Much in the spirit of the great residency that exists at New Orleans’ own Spotted Cat Music Club where the legendary Vipers have thrown down on every Monday for the past god-knows-how-long, the Po’ Boys are steeped in tradition while in search of creating tradition all their own.With a repertoire of New Orleans standards, spirituals, contemporary music, and swing tunes, the Po’ Boys offer a lively blend of fun and insanity. Sure, it’s served messy, but at the heart of the mess is a sincerity for sprightly composed tunes that are accessible to absolutely anyone that hears it. New Orleans music is supposed to be messy. It’s supposed to be steeped in feeling. When you feel music, you find the real beauty behind what makes music so mesmerizingly addicting. That’s exactly what the Po’ Boys are producing.
