JEX SAARELAHT TRIO "LIMINAL"

Melbourne pianist-composer Jex Saarelaht, best known as the leader of a long-running trio, debuted his quartet with saxophonist Julien Wilson at the 2007 Wangaratta Jazz Festival. Since then the personnel has settled to include Jonathan Zwartz (bass) and Niko Schäuble (drums).Since the mid ‘80s, Jex has performed and recorded with an impressive list of Australian and international musicians, from Dale Barlow and Bernie McGann to Vince Jones and Chris Wilson, from Renee Geyer and Kate Ceberano to Sheila Jordan and Steve Lacy. Key international performances include the Edinburgh Festival, Birmingham International Jazz Festival, London’s Jazz Café and Southbank, and the Aarhus International Jazz Festival, Denmark.A founding member of legendary Melbourne bands, Dianna Kiss and Doug de Vries’ New Tango Quintet, Jex has also led his own bands, including the Jextet in the mid ‘80s. His trio played its first gig in 1993 with the same line-up (Philip Rex and Niko Schäuble) remaining to this day. They released a superb 2-CD set, ‘Fridays, Late’ (Bennetts Lane) in 1999. ALLAN BROWNE TRIO "LOST IN THE STARS"

La migliore musica, che si può ascoltare, del jazz contemporaneo Austrialiano. La Jazz Head, una casa discografica che è stata fondata nel 1996 dalla leggenda della musica australiana Joe Camilleri insieme a Andrew Walker, per cosi sostenere i musicisti Jazz australiani. Fin dal giorno della sua nascita, la Jazzhead ha perseguito nell'eccellenza della musica, che ha fatto di loro una casa premiata, con artisti che includono Jamie Oehlers, Way Out West, Joe Chindamo, Kristin Berardi, Julien Wilson,  e ancora, Barney McAll, Ben Winkelman, Andrea Keller e Allan Browne. Infatti, quest'ultimo è il noto percussionista Allan Browne, che in Trio ascoltiamo proprio in questo album,  potendo notare, che qui vi è presente, proprio un altissima concentrazione, molto progressiva dei suoni del jazz. Browne è stato premiato con cinque borse di studio da parte del Consiglio di Australia, con un totale di 70 album all'attivo, ed è stato anche coinvolto in numerose colonne sonore. Browne è anche un appassionato scrittore, ha scritto alcuni articoli e poesie già pubblicati, e sta lavorando su un'antologia di altre poesie e saggi. Con il suo trio, formato da Hannford e Sam Pankhurst, presenti qui in "Lost In The Stars", ci fà ascoltare un album ispirato dal pianista Jazz americano Mary Lou Williams e dal compositore tedesco Karl Stockhausen.
