Don Was, musicista, produttore e compositore vincitore di 6 GRAMMY® Award, rende omaggio alla sua città natale, Detroit, con la sua nuova band, Don Was and the Pan-Detroit Ensemble, e il loro album di debutto "Groove In The Face of Adversity". WILD IRIS BRASS BAND " WAY UP "

La WILD IRIS BRASS BAND, una band soul proveniente da Nashville, Tennessee, suona alcuni dei groove più funky delle brass band di questa parte di New Orleans! Co-fondata dal sassofonista Jeff Coffin (Dave Matthews Band/Bela Fleck & the Flecktones), vincitore di 3 Grammy, e dal trombonista Ray Mason (Lauren Daigle, Elvis Costello, Antibalas, Taylor Swift), la Wild Iris è nata all'inizio del 2021 come augurio di compleanno a sorpresa per un amico. La musica suonava così bene che la band ha deciso di provarci e scrivere e registrare musica originale: è nata così la Wild Iris Brass Band. La Wild Iris è composta da Jeff Coffin al sax tenore, Ray Mason al trombone, Emmanuel Echem alla tromba, Jovan Quallo al sax contralto, Neil Konouchi al sousafono, Justin Amaral alla batteria e percussioni, e a completare la festa della brass band c'è Ryoko Suzuki al tamburello. I Wild Iris suonano musica divertente e generosa, con un groove così profondo che non hai altra scelta che sorridere, battere il piede, alzarti e ballare. An honors graduate of Humber College’s Jazz and Contemporary Music program, where he was awarded the Gordon and Anne Wragg Music Scholarship for academic and performance achievement, Shafton has also studied privately with iconic Canadian bass player-composers such as Chris Tarry, Rich Brown, Kieran Overs, and Mike Downes.He maintains a busy freelance schedule performing and recording in support of numerous groups and artists from wide-ranging genres including jazz, R’n’B, rock, folk, hip hop, country and musical theatre and has shared the stage with eminent jazz artists such as David Gilmore, Robi Botos, Waleed Abdulhamid, Daniel Barnes, Michael and Gordon Webster, and Jamie Reynolds.In addition to driving Shafton Thomas Group’s quest to conquer the world, Shafton also maintains a busy gigging schedule performing with Newfoundland-grown hip-hop up-and-comers Large LIVE n’ Direct; Regina-based piano-pop sensation Jeffery Straker Band, former Mike Bullard Show House Band guitarist Mark Patterson’s Trio Project and recently held the bass chair in Angelwalk Theatre’s Dora-nominated production of I Love You, Because at Toronto Centre for the Performing Arts. KEN HUSBANDS TRIO "KEEPIN' IT GOING"

Keepin’ It Going is Ken Husbands’ third release as a leader and the second with this group, featuring Aaron Germain on bass and Otto Huber on drums. It moves fluidly from the funk inflected opening track to the fast samba of the closer, passing through swing, odd metered grooves, African influences and out-and-out fusion on the way. This group has been working together in the San Francisco Bay area for several years and they have developed a cohesive ensemble approach. The original compositions are formally rigorous while leaving room for each of the musicians to display team-oriented virtuosity. Contemporary influences such as John Scofield and Wayne Krantz can be heard in Husbands’ guitar playing, and the title track evokes the world fusion of Weather Report, but this trio has its own sound and compositional approach that incorporates a wide range of musical styles, integrating odd time signatures and complex harmonies seamlessly into energetic grooves. ALEX PUDDU "THE GOLDEN AGE OF DANISH PORNOGRAPHY VOL.2"

Alex Puddu, was born in Rome, Italy, in 1967 but moved to Denmark at the age of 19 and quickly established his reputation as a musician in a number of indie rock bands. he Recorded he's first E.P with the band Excess Bleeding Heart" followed with The album "Libido".In the early 1995 he formed the Band "Nerve" with he's mate Morten Varano and 3 members of the band Sandman .They got sign with EMI and release one EP and the Album Speeed Freak Jive. Nerve got along by touring in DK and even a opening support show for David Bowie i Valby Hall.In 1997, The Band spilt up ,Alex Puddu and Morten Varano founded the groundbreaking electronica duo Puddu Varano and released three albums and a number of singles before splitting up in 2002.Today Alex puddu is one of the most direct and creative artist and composer of our days, truly devoted to the italian vintage sound of the giallo/horror movies from the early seventies. WOIMA COLLECTIVE "FROU FROU ROKKO"

Woima Collective follow up their first album with their Frou Frou Rokko LP, and delve even further into the African rhythms that inspire them. Building on the ground work that Woima Collective's debut LP Tezeta laid down, this collection of tracks goes even deeper to exploring the interlocking cross­rhythms that abound on the African continent. That's not just a figure of speech: many of the songs were composed while band leader Johannes Schleiermacher traveled Africa over three months last year. Passing through Morocco, Mali, and Senegal, Johannes discovered many new grooves and dance moves on his journey, which have all played their part in the developing Woima sound. The title Frou Frou Rokko comes from Johannes' Bamako base, a friendly community house. "The people are very hospitable, and because I came as a musician, I had a very good connection with them. Then when I played with them, it just got better. They were really happy when I adapted to their style, and they loved it when I caught some phrases of theirs!" Johannes explored new rhythms as he went, using them as inspiration to create his own grooves. "For me, the groove's the most important thing," he insists. "Melodies are always pushing the tracks forward, but the groove is what gets you in the mood! The music in Mali often has no climax, it can go on for a very long time, repeating yet it doesn't get boring. It's a different approach to what we might be used to in Europe. I think you can hear those longer, more hypnotic influences on this record." Some of the tracks are dedicated to specific events, like the song that Johannes wrote while he was dosed­up on Malaria medicine, or Brain Clear Heart, about the incurable romantic he met on the border to Senegal, who dreamt of all cultures around the world playing music together. The line­up is almost exactly the same as the previous album, with a couple of extra guests for good measure. Also the band had some time to play around with the new material before recording at Berlin's Lovelight facility ­ a luxury they weren't afforded on the first LP. Combine this extra testing time with the fact that the band have settled into their own skin, and the result is a lot more open, with longer solos and improvised passages. Upfront, yet stretched out, Woima Collective have put another twist on their modern day african­influenced ensemble, and dive even further into their own sound. WOIMA COLLECTIVE
 

WIL GREENSTREET "BLUE, MY MIND"

Wil Greenstreet ha suonato musica per 50 anni, prima come famoso chitarrista di rhythm and blues in Australia nel 1960 e 70, poi ha suonato la chitarra in una delle migliori band in Australia, Doug Parkinson In Focus, e ha scritto le musiche per il film di culto, Stone. Nel 75 ha iniziato a produrre sè stesso in un musicista di classe mondiale, di sax alto e jazz compositore. Ha condotto una serie di originali jazz funk, acid jazz e free jazz in una band di Austin, Texas, per 10 anni, introducendo una jam band sulla scena musicale di Austin. LIN ROUNTREE "SERENDPITOUS"

Il trombettista di Jazz, Soul e RB, Lin Rountree, è stato descritto per il suo modo di suonare, come artista Soul, funky, jazz groove, e molto sensuale. Ha un'innata capacità di collegare la sua musica direttamente all'anima dell'ascoltatore. Lin ha cosi iniziato a suonare la tromba in Alexandria, Virginia, quando aveva appena 11 anni, e ha poi frequentato spesso i programmi di sviluppo di musica, presso la scuola di Duke Ellington. Dopo la sua laurea Lin fu reclutato nel programma musicale in Florida, presso l' università dove si è esibito con il famoso "Marching 100", sotto la direzione di William P. Foster e il dottor Julian White. In seguito inizia a sviluppare un profondo interesse, nonchè deciso apprezzamento per la musica Jazz, iniziando peraltro a studiare alcuni dei suoi trombettisti, quali Miles Davis, Quincy Jones, Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw e Tom Browne. Ha trovato casa sua a Detroit, una città con una ricca tradizione in musica RB, Soul e Jazz. Nel 2004 Lin ha avuto la possibilità di incontrare due produttori, Dana Davis e Billy Meadows, che dopo aver ascoltato una sua demo di canzoni originali, decisero di reclutarlo alla Records BDK. Lin ha rilasciato due progetti per la Groovetree Records BDK, da farlo cosi subito apparire, come una forza trainante della nuova generazione di solisti strumentali, mettendo in mostra, il suo talento come compositore innovativo, è già un leader tra le nuove reclute di artisti Soul e Jazz.
