La fenomenale band londinese di 8 elementi Kokoroko annuncia il loro tanto atteso album di debutto Could We Be More tramite la Brownswood Recordings di Gilles Peterson. Ogni canzone possiede l'energia che è così naturalmente alla base del battito cardiaco dell'identità di Kokoroko - muovendosi abilmente attraverso afrobeat, highlife, soul e funk attraverso le 15 tracce dell'album e prendendo ispirazione da una pletora di altre influenze all'interno delle comunità dell'Africa occidentale e dei Caraibi che la band è cresciuta ascoltando - l'album regala all'ascoltatore sentimenti di ritorno a casa e gioia. I KOKOROKO attingono dalla musica con cui sono cresciuti, essendosi incanalati con i grandi dell'Africa occidentale attraverso un approccio radicato nel jazz, basandosi sulle basi di Fela Kuti, Tony Allen ed Ebo Taylor; intrecciano influenze interconnesse in un suono che scuote l'anima, alimentato dal corno,per la loro rivoluzione globale di Afrobeat.Il nome della band è un Orobo,una tribù e una lingua nigeriana,parola che significa "sii forte".Sonicamente all'altezza del loro nome, i KOKOROKO sono una band all star con luci di spicco della comunità jazz di Londra.Alimentati dalla sezione di corno sismico (Maurice Gray, sassofonista Cassie Kinoshi, trombonista Richie Seivewright), chitarra (Oscar Jerome), tasti (Yohan Kebede), batteria (Ayo Salawu) e percussioni (Onome Edgeworth). Its goal is to explore a cosmopolitan view of the world through the lens of a wide range of Turkish traditions, alone and in conversation with the musics of the formerly Ottoman peoples—Greeks, Jews, Armenians, Arabs, Kurds, mystics—as well as with western and other world traditions including Jazz. The DÜNYA collective includes specialists in contemporary composition, jazz, Ottoman music, early European music, Middle Eastern Christian and Jewish music, ethnomusicology and popular music. In DÜNYA projects, research and translation combine with original composition, improvisation and musical experimentation to create lively presentations, recordings and publications aimed at engaging contemporary audiences. DÜNYA seeks to work with a wide range of cultural and religious organizations and relies on no particular political, governmental or religious affiliation or support of any kind. PETE ROTH BAND "CIRCUS IN THE SKY"

Writing and performing music was something that always seemed a natural progression to me. Ever since the early beginning of my musical journey at age 11 when I picked up the guitar for the first time.I was very lucky to be able to perform publicly from a very early age on by being involved in the school’s band led in a passionate way by Miss Kern, a brilliant piano player in her own right. Many wrong notes later and at least 10 bands later I have found myself backing a major artist at a prime time television show "Hitparade der Volksmusik". I took this as an incentive to take music to the next level and moved to Guildford 30 minutes south of London to study popular music and Jazz under the brilliant Stefan Redtenbacher.It was here where my love for variety in music such as Jazz and Latin got fed with the right ingredients. I found myself in a very vibrant environment and started gigging almost immediately. It was in this scene where I was allowed to be part of projects which put me on an inevitable path. Just after my first studio recording for Radio Capitol FM. I started as musical director on a private Television show called "Virtuoso Song Contest". An X-Factor type of idea. The show unfortunately never got off the ground. If it was because of me, many apologies, I don't hope so. On the back of this I was offered a contract to go on a cruise ship and ended up 6 months on and off and seeing nearly the entire world from Southampton to Vietnam.It was from then on when things really started to pick up and I had a run of performing with some of England’s most prestigious Jazz and Classical musicians. There were unforgettable moments when I was asked to play with the London Gala Orchestra under the Musical Direction of the brilliant Steve Bell. I turned up at the gig with a newly bought acoustic nylon string guitar, my pride and joy, for 500 pounds. I got it out of the case and showed it proudly around thinking this must be the best thing those guys have ever seen. The violin player next to me then got her violin out of the case which was a 250.000 pound instrument. I sat quietly in a corner for the rest of the evening:-).  There were many others such as Maria Friedmann a protégé of Stephen Sondheim and Michel Legrand, Teatro a platinum selling vocal group, the mad Irish Sam Flynne who made his name as piano player for the Eurhythmics, Roachford and Stevie Wonder or the unforgettable Rosemarie Squires best known for singing with Les Paul and the magic Brian Dee who made his name Mding Miles Davies.In the five years of my professional life I had the luck to play in some of the best venues in Europe such as the Purcell Room in the Royal Festival Hall being on the same bill with one of my heroes John Schofield. JEFF CASCARO & HR BIGBAND "ANY PLACE I HANG MY HAT IS HOME"

Jeff Cascaro und die hr-Bigband. Dieses Treffen der Spitzenklasse gilt einem der bedeutendsten Komponisten des Great American Songbook: Harold Arlen (1905-1986). Er schrieb Klassiker wie „Over The Rainbow“, „Stormy Weather“, „It’s Only A Papermoon“, „Let’s Fall In Love“ oder “One For My Baby“, zu denen Größen wie Johnny Mercer, Truman Capote, E.Y. Harburg und Ted Koehler die Texte beisteuerten. Ella Fitzgerald, Nat ‚King’ Cole, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Judy Garland und viele andere Stars sangen einzigartige Interpretationen. Bis heute inspirieren Arlens Kompositionen Musiker unterschiedlicher Stilrichtungen. Besonders Jazzmusiker spricht die subtile Verknüpfung von Blues und amerikanischem Folk immer wieder an. NO BLUES "KIND OF NO BLUES"

Dopo quattro anni di successo i "No Blues" hanno pubblicato "Kind Of No Blues", che è un doppio album che contiene due CD con i migliori brani dal vivo, come anche delle nuove canzoni. Ci sono dodici brani registrati in studio, che dispongono di speciali ospiti internazionali che caratterizzano l'album, tipo i musicisti Bill Barrett (Hazmat Modine, USA) e Andre Williams (USA). Si tratta di una combinazione di suoni all'Arabicana con musica classica moderna, per un suono completamente nuovo. E' un viaggio musicale notevole che tocca i confini tra American folk, blues e musica araba. Un genere che è stato formato e modellato da questa banda, con Corni, archi, violini e poeti. Jos Fioravante riporta il suono ruggente degli anni 30. Un contributo da fonti inaspettate provengono dai poeti Vrouwkje Tuinman e Rodaan Al Galidi (Iraq). Contributi sulle registrazioni dal vivo sono dati da Sophie Cavez (Belgio), isli Dani (Palestina) e Mourad Khoury (Palestina). NO BLUES

DEVA PREMAL & MITEN WITH MANOSE "A DEEPER LIGHT"

CRISTINA PATO "MIGRATIONS"

La 32enne spagnola CRISTINA PATO rende unico e virtuosa la musica su di un comune strumento: lei è una dei grandi maestri di vita della gaita (sebbene lei suona il pianoforte e il flauto e canta), ed i suoi spettacoli sono elementi molto gratificanti nel mondo, nella musica folk, pop e classica (spesso in compagnia del pianista Yo Yo Ma) e anche nella coreografia. Cristina Pato presenta un intrigante amalgama di stili della musica del suo paese nativo, cioè le radici spagnole del nord, di jazz, world e le fonti classiche. Il progetto ha inizio e coinciso con il suo trasferimento nella città di New York per perseguire il suo dottorato alla Rutgers University. La sua musica una volta fiorita, inizia a collaborare con diversi ensemble, con l'eclettico Yo-Yo Ma, Via della Seta Ensemble, Arturo O'Farrill e Afro-Latin della Orchestra Jazz. Ella attinge qui per il suo nuovo album "Migrations", suonando non solo la gaita ma anche pianoforte e flauto. Insieme al fisarmonicista Victor Prieto, il bassista Edward Pérez, il percussionista John W. H. Hadfield e il batterista Eric Doob. CRISTINA PATO
