BEN AYLON "XALAM"

Nel gennaio 2020, il virtuoso della batteria Ben Aylon ha ottenuto il riconoscimento nazionale in Senegal dopo essere apparso in famosi programmi TV senegalesi e aver eseguito i suoi affascinanti concerti da solista nella capitale del paese Dakar. La sua grande popolarità lo ha portato insieme al leggendario Youssou N'Dour e ha permesso le sue numerose collaborazioni musicali con artisti tra cui Cheikh Lô, Omar Pene, Awadi e Doudou Ndiaye Rose.Nato nella città di Herzliya in Israele, Ben ha viaggiato in Africa occidentale dal 2008, ricercando la batteria del sabar senegalese, collaborando con musicisti locali e suonando il suo progetto solista di batteria - One Man Tribe. Per diversi anni ha studiato con Aly Ndiaye Rose, figlio del grande Doudou Ndiaye Rose, il maestro moderno riconosciuto del tamburo tradizionale del Senegal, il sabar. Durante questo periodo, Ben ha sviluppato la sua caratteristica tecnica di percussioni ibride che consiste nel suonare un set di dieci diversi tamburi africani contemporaneamente, creando un suono enorme come una tribù di batteristi. Questo approccio rivoluzionario allo stile di batteria della famiglia ha debitamente guadagnato il rispetto di Doudou Ndiaye Rose, che ha incontrato nel 2013 quando ha avuto luogo la prima registrazione di questo album.Lo xalam (pronunciato khalam) è uno dei più antichi strumenti a corda dell'Africa occidentale con le sue origini nella regione dell'antico impero del Mali. Il suono della frase "xalam" è identico al percorso della parola "sogno" nella lingua ebraica. BEN AYLON

The Blues Rebels began in 2012 as a one-time friendly jam between two veteran Blues artists – guitarist Andy Watts and singer/harmonica player Dov Hammer – but the immediate chemistry between the two and the powerful stage show that resulted was undeniable. The Blues Rebels soon became one of the hottest Blues bands on the Israeli scene, playing with world-class Blues artists such as Joe Louis Walker, Lucky Peterson and Bernard Allison. The band was also chosen to open for the legendary Johnny Winter, who told the band how impressed he was by their performance. After 2 years of burning up stages with their incendiary live show, the Rebels began work on their first album, a compilation of 14 original songs by Dov Hammer and Andy Watts. The band set up in the studio at Kibbutz Ma'abarot and tore through the songs in three days, capturing the live energy and passion of their infamous live show. The songs feature unique and heartfelt songwriting, blazing powerhouse Blues guitar and harmonica and soulful singing. The rhythm section is funky and in the pocket, with a groove that never quit.
