Baz and Al met in hard driving rhythm and blues quintet “The AM5”, and have played together as a duo since November 2013 Big Baz: (Vocals, Slide Guitar, Guitar, Footstomp), was a stalwart of the rock scene in Essex in a band called Lizard ( who also released a C.D. “The Power Of One” ) before joining the AM5. He counts his main influence as Paul Rodgers in the vocal context. But for guitar styles Rory Gallagher etc. Al E.Bye: (Harmonicas, Percussion), was in several blues bands, punk blues bands ( The Jukes) and blues swing band The Chicago Bearcats,( who had a 12″ E.P. released on Carve Up records which was distributed by Red Lightning Records ) before forming the AM5. He counts his main influences as Lester Butler from The Red Devils, Papa Lightfoot, and Guy Forsyth, etc. Now they have joined together again in a Blues, R & B, and Rock and Roll duo: The Jives UK April 2014 debut album recorded and released “When One Door Closes” with a variety of covers from the likes of Tony Joe White, The Beatles, Howling Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson, Jimmy Witherspoon, Seasick Steve, Free, etc. was followed up by a mini tour of Belgium and various gigs around the south east of England. The next album is already being put together with half originals and half covers. Synopsis Expect to hear the sounds of Fat Possum Records, raw and unpolished blues. The sounds of Rory Gallagher, Seasick Steve, Houndog Taylor, Sonny Boy Williamson, Red Devils, etc.“It’s hard to say exactly what we are and what we do, Blues is definitely at the core, but we’re huge fans of all sorts of American and English music and all of that comes through as well. Obviously, there are elements of traditional blues in what we do, elements of vintage rock and roll, rock, Essex R & B and all that sort of stuff. LYNN DRURY "COME TO MY HOUSE"

Lynn Drury has been performing, in one arena or another, her entire life. At the ripe old age of five she won a 4-H state competition in Mississippi in pole bending. If you don’t know what pole bending is, it’s a little like barrel racing, Lynn says. That’s horse talk. In a word, rodeos. Once you know that much about Lynn, you understand her approach.She picked up the guitar at 26, went at it like a pro, and she’s never stopped working. Her inspiration is her environment and since the mid nineties, that environment has been New Orleans. The transition for the Yazoo City – born Drury was smooth. She says jasmine smells like honeysuckle, and you believe her. Sultry, sweet songs turn funky, and it’s all in the same neighborhood.These days, Lynn herself is part of the scenery. She’s been a regular at French Quarter Fest and New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival for years, and has played just about everywhere in town.Drury released her first CD, “Crossing Frequencies,” in 2001 and over the next two years released two more — “Blackberry Winter” and “Spun,” as well as winning Best Emerging Singer/Songwriter for Offbeat Magazine. In 2006 her record “All You Need” produced by Jimbo Mathus (Squirrel Nut Zippers) was nominated for Best Roots-Rock Album at the Big Easy Awards, and it’s still selling. In 2008 Lynn moved to Italy and toured Europe with Italian guitarist Roberto Luti, releasing “Dal Vivo,” a live CD in 2009.In 2010 a grant from Threadhead Records Foundation assisted Lynn in making “Sugar On the Floor.” The stellar lineup on the record includes Alex McMurray (Tin Men, Royal Fingerbowl), Tommy Malone (Subdudes), Ivan Neville, Helen Gillet, Bill Malchow, and Eric Traub. Produced by Carlo Nuccio (who also plays drums on the album), much of the disc was recorded and engineered by Jacques DeLatour at Fudge Recording Studios in New Orleans. “Sugar On the Floor” was released in the spring of 2011.A new recording project is underway. In December 2012, Lynn received another grant from the Threadhead Foundation, and was able to defray studio costs for the initial sessions.“I am so excited about my new recording,” Lynn says. I am working with producer John Porter. When I heard he had produced the early Smith’s records, I knew I had to work with him. I’ve been gritty and I’ve been twangy, but I wanted a new direction for this project. Intuitively, it just felt right.”Drummer Chris Pylant and bass player Cassandra Faulconer are with her in the studio, and they go back a long way. “The three of us together are a tight trio that only comes with time.” The first session in April also included Trevor Brooks on keys and Chris Adkins and Alex McMurray on guitars, with a follow-up session just finished with Shane Theriot on guitar. DIVERSE "OUR JOURNEY"

Since the inception of the group, Diverse’s musical intent has always been to connect with all types of audiences. Diverse plays a brand of jazz that is heavily influenced by other modern day genres yet keeps a firm grasp on the tradition. The core members of this Kansas City based group are Hermon Mehari (trumpet), Ryan Lee (drums), and Ben Leifer (bass). Parisian pianist Tony Tixier has recently joined thegroup.Diverse released its sophomore album, "Our Journey" in 2014 featuring Tony Tixier and alto saxophonist Logan Richardson.  This documents the musical results of the group’s growth as a result of their individual and collectives travels and experiences. In 2009, Diverse released their self-titled debut album on Origin Records as a result of winning the 2008 Gene Harris Jazz Competition in Boise, Idaho. This album of twelve original compositions reached the Top 50 of the JazzWeek charts and stayed in the Top 120 for more than six months.Diverse has also taken initiatives to collaborate with many artists and play in a variety of musical settings. The group has performed with jazz greats Bobby Watson, Jaleel Shaw and Logan Richardson in a series of concerts designed to promote these respective artists’ music to a new audience. Diverse has also collaborated with many Kansas City based artists of other genres to perform shows in tribute to Michael Jackson, Common’s “Like Water For Chocolate” and A Tribe Called Quest’s “Low End Theory”. The Diverse Trio, consisting of Mehari, Leifer and Lee, has conducted both stateside and European tours in the past two years. DIVERSE

La band di  Ria Reece è della vecchia scuola di Rhythm Blues. Potenza e grande soul, con la voce ossessionante di Ria Reece al centro della scena. FAREED HAQUE "TRANCE HYPOTHESIS"

Fareed Haquedi di origini pakistane e cileno, è un virtuoso della chitarra moderna. Di fatto arrichitosi delle molte tradizioni classiche e jazz, il suo unico comando della chitarra e interpretare i diversi stili musicali ispirando le sue imprese musicali con tradizione e innovazione, senza paura. Un acclamato potente e abile compositore che ha studiato presso il North Texas State University e l'Università di Northwestern, che è intriso di una più che rara versatilità e già grandissima apertura mentale, riflettendo l'eclettismo del musicista del XXI secolo. Egli è famoso per portare gli stili classici del jazz a collaborazioni delle molte jam band, compresi, ma non limitati a, quelli con Paquito D'Rivera, Dave Holland, Sting, Joe Henderson, Lester Bowie, Arturo Sandoval, Robert Walter, Keller Williams, Medeski, Martin e Wood, Kahil el Zabar, Defunckt, Ramsey Lewis, Gabe Noel, Edo Castro e più recentemente con George Brooks. SPRINGDALE QUARTET "HEIST"

Formatosi in un momento in cui la definizione di 'musica dal vivo' sembra sempre in flusso costante, il quartetto di Springdale di Colorado sembrerà leggermente fuori luogo con il loro suono contemporaneo. Suono e stile, basato soprattutto su un fondamento compositivo, con le sue radici nella tradizione jazz e blues, che è stato descritto a volte come musica 'vintage'. Attingendo ulteriormente sia dal funk che dal rock progressivo, con dell'organo in primo piano, dove il tutto si riduce in semplice musica dance. Spettacolari dal vivo, con dei pezzi di fusione, per un suono che ci può sembrare anche doppiamente familiare e unico, ma allo stesso tempo ci conforta e ci emoziona.Un Quartetto d'esperienza, che si è esibito presso alcune delle più importanti sedi del Colorado e di Festival a fianco di artisti, compresi Maceo Parker, Soulive, The Bad Plus, il Duo Russo/Benevento, Kyle Hollingsworth, The New Mastersounds e Karl Denson. GEORGIA SOUL COUNCIL "THICKENS UPON STANDING"

I Georgia Soul Council è una band cool, formata in Atlanta solo pochi anni fa, come band di supporto per Otis Redding III, fanno musica con vibrazioni di Soul e Jazz, di talento e dannatamente molto groovy retrò. I componenti, Brian Didsbury (basso), con Jeff Jeswald (Rhodes, organo), Johnny Halpin (lead Guitar) e Dan Jeswald (rhythm Guitar), erano tutti veterani della scena Jazz-Funk di New York, prima di trasferirsi ad Atlanta nel 2006. Fu qui che hanno incontrato Rob Robinson (batteria), che era saldamente radicato nella fiorente comunità di funk di Atlanta. Essi hanno appena pubblicato un album di debutto "Thickens Upon Standing", piena di funk d'epoca, degli anni settanta, per un Soul-Jazz, che è la loro passione musicale vera e propria. Dopo tutto, un buon groove, ma con molta più anima e qualche chitarra, per un sound moderno. GEORGIA SOUL COUNCIL
 

MOCAMBO "CINEMATIC FUNK"

Mocambo è famigerato per il Funk da 45 giri, che sono diventati i favoriti dai prestigiosi DJ, ambiziosi collezionisti e degli appassionati di musica in tutto il mondo. Mentre la prima compilation che fù estratta della stessa etichetta sfoggiava i punti salienti del vinile, questa è una raffinatissima selezione del nuovo materiale inedito. La maggior parte delle tracce sono state composte originariamente per l'uso di  colonne sonore di film e televisione, e non per la solita versione commerciale. Mocambo è veramente orgogliosa di offrire queste gemme agli amanti del vero vinile. Il possente Mocambo cosi offre un'ampia varietà di stili funk da film, e come suggerisce il titolo 'Cinematic Funk', abbiamo la crema di bande di funk dell'Europa come James Taylor Quartet.

ABAHAMBI "BALOMHLABA"

Due longtime registrati per Tom Roskow, che ha deciso finalmente di esaudire il suo sogno, e formare cosi l'etichetta discografica Black Pearl Records. Condividendo in questo modo le sue infinite  conoscenze musicali, acquisite attraverso 20 anni di esperienza di registrazioni, e da queste impegnarsi nella loro interminabile ricerca del brano perfetto. Con un grande ambizione: quello di poter dare alle persone, l'opportunità di condividere questo circolo musicale e diffondere la grande musica, che cosi hanno scoperto! Qui un assaggio di un nuovo album, intriso di jazz funk, groove e afro, di appunto Abahambi, intitolato "Balomhlaba", per un buon ascolto in relax, senza giramenti di testa.   

LONNIE LESTER "THE STORY OF LONNIE LESTER"

Lonnie Lester, anima negli anni sessanta di funky, grooves, R'n'B e blues, ma rimasto abbastanza sconosciuto al grande pubblico. Grazie all'etichetta tedesca "Tramp Records" (che festeggia il suo 10° anniversario quest'anno), tutti quei classici rari, ora sono ampiamente disponibili, per una compilation "The Story Of Lonnie Lester", tramutata in un un'antologia, per LP vinile o CD, con un opuscolo completo della Biografia dettagliata di Lonnie. Una delle leggende della grande anima, uno di quegli eroi non celebrati di Rhythm Blues degli anni sessanta, che ha guadagnato poco riconoscimento per il suo talento. Nato a Dora, Missouri nel 1937, Lonnie è il più antico dei tredici figli. Nel 1946 la sua famiglia si trasferì a Gary, Indiana. Incoraggiato da sua nonna, egli iniziò a cantare in chiesa all'età di sei anni. Come un adolescente si è esibito con il doo-wop (stile di musica popolarizzata nel 1950 cantata in armonia) in gruppi. Lonnie recentemente ha celebrato il suo ben settantacinquesimo compleanno, e continua ad esibirsi nella zona di Indianapolis, Indiana. Ora buon ascolto, con la ristampa di tutti i suoi singoli di maggior successo, con una fantastica qualità del suono è una lezione di storia, in cui dovrebbero partecipare tutti i patiti di questa musica, e onorare Lonnie.  LONNIE LESTER
