THE MICK CLARKE BAND "RUFF'N' ROAR - LIVE AT SCRATCHERS"

The Three Lions is thought to be the oldest public house in the Surrey village of Farncombe, and has stood there since at least the beginning of the eighteenth century. For many years the landlord held an annual fair each Easter Monday in an adjoining field with stalls of gingerbread, toys and other amusements such as ‘climbing the pole’, badger baiting and even bare knuckle fighting. Fortunately the amount of bare knuckle fighting has decreased in recent years, and the pub has found a new identity as Scratchers, an excellent venue for rocking blues bands from across the land. On a warm evening in June 2015 the three piece MC Band assembled for an evening of straght ahead rocking blues - Elmore James, Hound Dog Taylor and a few MC originals. It is indeed rough and raw and what you you hear is what went down. Thanks to all those who attended and to the staff and crew who pitched in so readily to help make this recording possible. Shoestring Bourbon was formed in the fall of 2012.  ‘Bourbon plays originals as well as blues, soul and rock n roll covers.  You can find Shoestring Bourbon playing local Victoria venues along with occasional shows on the mainland and beyond.  ‘Bourbon is bluesy, rocking, funky, and always dirty!

GOOD DICTION "THE QUEEN'S ENGLISH"

Local husband and wife folk blues duo Good Diction is a great example of the kind of group that reaffirms my commitment to independent music and provides an ever welcome source of inspiration.The key to the blues (or any style really) is authenticity. Frontman Peter Bodurtha’s lyrics have strong mythical and literary qualities to them. At the same time, songs like If I Were a British Man or I Just Want to Talk display an earnest sense of wit and cleverness that make their stories personal.Much like Meg White (and I mean that in the best way possible), Percussionist Julie Bodurtha’s minimalist approach adds a certain amount innocence and playfulness to the music that really ropes the listener in and highlights the nuances.  As the lengthy stomp-fest 1789 W Broadway Ave Blues demonstrates, all of the intangibles are present and Good Diction successfully accomplishes what all good blues bands must do: trick you into not realizing your hearing the blues. Wholehearted showmanship goes a long way and the overall effect is the temporary illusion of experiencing something new, vai raw, undiscovered, and—most importantly—real. GOOD DICTION

ZOE SCHWARZ AND BLUE COMMOTION "THE BLUES DON'T SCARE ME"

Una band emergente di Blues popolare, del passato e del presente, un gruppo contemporaneo che crea vivaci canzoni originali e arrangiamenti freschi di classici dei grandi bluesman, in sostanza un perfetto mix di testa e di cuore. Loro si chiamano i Blue Commotion, che presentano il loro ultimo album "The Blues Don't Scare Me". La loro leader è Zoë Schwarz, vocalista che si è esibita con una gamma straordinariamente ampia di musicisti tra cui Harrison Birtwistle, Emma Kirkby, Scott Stroman e Keith Tippett, con la sua voce che è semplicemente mozzafiato e piena di emozione. Rob è stato descritto come uno dei più prolifici scrittori di canzoni jazz di qualità, con la collaborazione di cantanti come Zoe Schwarz e Sue Hawker. Segue Si Genaro, all'armonica, che si era trovato in una palude nella metà degli anni 80, ora quasi completamente recuperato, visto che ha imparato diverse parole in lingua inglese ed è soddisfatto dei suoi progressi. Quando non suona l'armonica si diverte a rubare auto veloci. Infine Pete Whittaker, all'organo hammond, che nè rimase affascinato di tale strumento dopo aver ascoltato le registrazioni del jazz classico degli anni 60 di artisti del calibro di Jimmy Smith, Richard Holmes 'Groove' e Jack McDuff. Ha girato il mondo con alcuni gruppi rock, ed è stato impegnato con diversi progetti jazz, insieme all'asso britannico jazz dell'organo e della chitarra Nigel Price. E ancora Paul Robinson, alla batteria che ha suonato con Jan Hammer, The Art Of Noise, Paul McCartney, Rod Stewart e i Pet Shop Boys. Ed esibizioni anche con Dianne Reeves, Patti Austin Liz Wright e molti altri. E per concludere Rodney Teague, al basso elettrico, dove è stato ispirato a suonarlo all'età di quattordici anni dopo aver visto una performance di Blockhead Norman. Ha un'eccellente esperienza nel suonare il blues e il jazz, visto che ha suonato con Chris Batchelor, Bruce Adams e Don Weller. Le sue credenziali blues comprendono concerti con maestri di pianoforte boogie, come Ben Waters, Paddy Milner e Steve Hooker. Insomma una buona band dai migliori blues, usciti dalla Gran Bretagna da oltre un decennio, gruppo che si adatterebbe sicuramente nella categoria del futuro del British Blues. BLUE COMMOTION
