DIONNE BENNETT " SUGAR HIP YA YA "
domenica 27 ottobre 2019
BRANDON SANTINI "THE LONGSHOT"
THE JIMMYS "HOT DISH"
Marcia Ball says: "Wow! I
love this record! It’s funky and rambunctious and I was dancing from
the first note. Soul music for the 21st Century. If you like Delbert
and the Phantom Blues Band, you’ll love this “Hot Dish”.
Tinsley Ellis says:
The Jimmy's have mined pure R&B gold with "Hot Dish". From the
opening hit of the Ray Charles influenced "Lose That Woman" to the
sultry swagger of "Freight Train" , "Hot Dish" is a winner from top to
bottom. Try to not dance when listening to "Funk Schway". It simply
can't be done! And the Jimmy's are a great live act as well. Look for
them on tour soon as they hit the road to support this album of great
music. "Hot Dish" indeed!
So deserving of this continent's attention! If you like keys (Jimmy),
horn and great guitar (Perry Webber) this band is chock full of soul and
boogie, get you some JImmy's, and I recommend starting with Wrecking
Ball on this album. Then when you've downloaded this album and the
earlier one, get on the website, find out where to catch these guys live
esp at an outdoor fest all over Wisconsin and the surrounds, and you
will have the best of great ear candy. Watch Jimmy pull in with his big
red band wagon and the goose bumps start coming just thinking about how
near you are to gettin that sound and watching Jimmy bounce those
converse tennies and jump around. Thanks for this musical treat
fellows!

THE RIGHTEOUS BLUES BAND "THE RIGHTEOUS BLUES BAND"
Christian Blues Band formed in Jan 2012. We plan to use our music to
help spread the message of The Gospel of Jesus and bring glory to God
while having a great time playing some good music.“Thought I would take a minute to review the CD I recently purchased
from The Righteous Blues Band. I won’t lie, I am a die hard rock fan,
but I like a smattering of all genres of music. I really liked the
praise music on this CD. Having been raised catholic with a father who
loved old time gospel music I am familiar with many hymns, but my
favorite (and my father’s) has always been “Amazing Grace”. The
Righteous Blues Band’s rendition of this song is hauntingly beautiful.
Other favorites of mine from the CD are the “Righteous Shuffle” and
“Water Grave”. All of the music is great, and I can’t wait to see what
the band will put out next time. Great job guys!” “This is an absolutely EXCELLENT Believer’s Blues album! I’ve heard a
lot of Christian Blues music that had the title but only a couple of
songs that really had the substance. These guys got it NAILED! Very Good
Christ-centered messages, excellent guitar playing, good vocal work,
rockin’ rhythm section, and NO cheesy electronic keyboards like what
most Christian music is dominated by! I find it difficult to choose a
favorite….Go Straightway to their site & order your copy, I Highly
recommend it!” THE RIGHTEOUS BLUES BAND

MISSY ANDERSEN "IN THE MOMENT"
Born
in Detroit, Michigan and raised in Queens, New York, Missy’s first real
memory of singing is at age six. Her mother entered Missy in a child
talent contest and everyday she practiced with her after school. It was
her favorite thing to do. For some reason the contest was cancelled and
her afternoon practice sessions stopped, but Missy was hooked from then
on. “Singing would always be my friend and I would turn to it whenever I
needed to express something I couldn’t find the words to say,” says
Missy.Her
parents had an extensive music collection that included lots of soul,
R&B, blues, jazz, and gospel. Her favorite songs were always the
ones that told a story. It wasn’t always the most popular song on the
album, but she would play them over and over and over. She listened to
Gladys Knight, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, The Staple Singers, Teddy
Pendergrass and a host of others. And like many before her, Missy
mimicked other singers until she found her own voice. Later she would
discover Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughn, and Billie Holiday and that
eventually lead her to O.V. Wright, Bobby Bland, Little Milton, James
Carr, Ray Charles, Ann Peebles, and Irma Thomas.Although
singing is her love, she had her first stab at the music business while
in her teens with the rap single, “Be For Real” under the moniker,
Denyce "Flip" Isaac. Although the record’s success was small, it still
led to her being the opening act for Cissy Houston in a string of club
dates. It wasn’t long before Missy turned back to singing, honing her
skills fronting local bands as well as doing studio sessions as a
background vocalist. Moving
to San Diego, California, she met local blues man, Earl Thomas in the
late 90’s. It was then that she became one of the original Juke Joint
Jezebelles, a gospel, blues, and soul quartet, who provided backup
vocals for Earl’s stage show. She played and toured with Earl for
several years hitting festivals and venues in the U.S. and Europe. Earl
Thomas and the Jezebelles shared the stage with Ray Charles, B.B. King,
Robert Cray, John Hammond, Keb’ Mo’, Kenny Neal, and The Meters. MISSY ANDERSEN

BIRDLEGG "BIRDLEGG"
Selected as Blues Harmonica Player of the Year by the Bay Blues Society
in 2004, Birdlegg has been blowing the blues in the Bay Area for over
20 years.Based on his deep belief in preserving the blues, one of the highlights
of Birdlegg's career was a project he did with Willie Dixon in bringing
teaching of blues to Oakland schools. Birdlegg continues to give
lessons in blues harmonica and mentors many young players.Birdlegg has appeared in many major venues, including the San Francisco
Blues Festival, Mount Rushmore National Memorial Park and tours of
Europe.Birdlegg learned about music on his grandpop's back porch. The blues
grabbed hold of Bird then, and never let go. "All other forms of music, I
had to learn to love, but with the blues, there was no trying at all. I
just love it," he said.
He played his first gig with Massalah, then a blues icon in
Berkeley. He played with the much beloved Cool Poppa for 13 years. He
formed the first Tight Fit Blues Band in 1980, but it was another decade
before he felt he'd earned his rightful place next the bluesmen elders."Everything I am is wrapped up in music," he said. "I'm so fortunate to
have something no one can take from you. They can take your money, your
wife, your kids. But they still can't take the music. It's yours."ecently, Birdlegg moved to Texas. There he is fronting a new group of great musicians, known as the Texas Tightfit Bluesband.
Birdlegg continues to win over new fans every day by keeping the blues alive. BIRDLEGG
DEAK HARP "CLARKSDALE BREAKDOWN"
Deak Harp has been playing harmonica since he was 12 years old. His
biggest early inspiration came when his brother introduced him to the
music of James Cotton.Deak followed Cotton's band along the east coast for close to five years
before Cotton offered Deak a job driving his van. For the next six
years, Deak toured with the James Cotton blues band, eventually opening
acts and playing along with "Superharp" himself.Deak has since played with multiple bands and has shown his flexibility
as a musician in the varying styles of his performances. From the
classic blues standards, to Chicago blues, all the way to Mississippi
Hill Country blues, Deak's repertoire continues to grow.
Deak has spent time with the Deak Harp Band in its various forms
throughout the years, the Kilborn Alley Blues Band (including a tour of
London), and has played in states across the country.Deak
has traveled in recent years with Big City Rhythm and Blues magazine,
performing his innovative one-man show at festivals and events,
including the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise in the Caribbean and the
2013 SPAH convention, where Deak played in front of hundreds of fellow
harmonica players and was given a standing ovation by his audience.Deak gets his unique sound by playing an amplified harmonica while
simultaneously playing electric guitar or diddley bow, keeping rhythm
with a snare drum and a stomp box, and singing his own vocals. DEAK HARP

of the nation's hippest speakeasies and jazz clubs at night.Within the last few years alone Loide has had the privilege to perform
in Hollywood for a star-studded televised event, open for the legendary
Hugh Masekela and Oliver Mtukudzi, and perform at a Miriam Makeba

LISA MANN "MOVE ON"
Powerhouse bassist and front woman Lisa Mann hails from the
blues-steeped city of Portland, OR. She is currently the Cascade Blues
Association's Female Vocalist of the Year and Bass Player of the Year,
and her band is the Contemporary Blues Act of the Year. She and her
aptly named “Really Good Band” have been mainstays of the Northwest
music scene for several years, and have graced the stage at some of the
finest blues events, such as the Waterfront Blues Festival, Bronze Blues
& Brews, Untapped Blues Festival, Sunbanks and others. She was
inducted into the Cascade Blues Association’s Hall of Fame in 2011 after
winning the Muddy Waters Award for Bass Player of the Year for the
third time in a row. She has received numerous nominations for Vocalist
of the Year, winning in 2009 and 2012. In 2011, she and her Really Good
Band represented the CBA at the International Blues Challenge, where
they made it to the semi-finals. Lisa also won the Portland Music Award
for Outstanding Achievement in Blues in 2012.Her influences run the gamut, from low down blues sisters Etta James and
Koko Taylor, to singer-songwriters like Bonnie Raitt and Sheryl Crow,
to R&B belters like Little Milton. She writes the majority of her
recorded material, and her songs paint pictures of a gritty (and
sometimes humorous) personal experience in life, love and the
not-always-pretty music business. LISA MANN

BRANDON SANTINI "THIS TIME ANOTHER YEAR"
There are many different opinions as to what the future of blues harmonica will be. Memphis based Brandon Santini is undeniably a worthy player to keep an eye on as the next decade unfolds. His name is worthy of conversations that involve Jason Ricci, Billy Gibson, Dennis Gruenling, Rick Estrin and other frontline harmonica players that have become part of a new wave in the blues world. With tasteful speed and licks, he combines his respect to traditional blues with a present colorful style of playing. Raised in North Carolina, Brandon relocated to Memphis in 2003 where he began to absorb the sounds and culture of the Delta, honing his craft night after night, sweating it out in local Beale Street clubs just like Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, & B.B. King. He fronted the Blues Music Award nominated band Delta Highway for six years and has since embarked on a successful solo career touring throughout the world! BRANDON SANTINI

Your Sweetness is my Weakness". CLAIRY BROWNE & THE BANGIN RACKETTES "GOOD PROBLEMS" "WALK OF SHAME"
THE ORIGINAL RABBIT FOOT SPASM BAND "PARTY SEVEN"
THE ORIGINAL RABBIT FOOT SPASM BAND
