È risaputo che Bernard Allison è il figlio del gigante del blues Luther Allison, morto nel 1997. E Bernard non lo nasconde affatto. Ogni album che ha pubblicato contiene uno o più brani di suo padre.Tutti questi brani sono stati ora raccolti nel doppio album Luther's Blues, una compilation! E una compilation piena del blues funky e soul più meraviglioso! Rimasterizzato da Pauler Acoustics.Si apre con il groove solidamente funky Hang On. Una canzone cupa con, ovviamente, una chitarra fiammeggiante! Anche Reaching Out è funky, ma del tipo arioso e groove con una voce molto piena di sentimento.La migliore canzone funky è la funky Too Many Women con un lavoro di chitarra potente e pungente e un basso funk piagnucoloso. Il lato più intimo è rappresentato dalla ballata blues rock Serious, che viene riproposta in una versione penetrante e molto piena di sentimento. Love Is Free è una fragile ballata soul e Midnight Creeper un allegro soul swinger.Ci sono molte altre chicche nel secondo disco di questo doppio album. Dopo il loro album di debutto vincitore del Blues Blast Award, Sister Lucille torna con "Tell the World". Raw and direct, well not ”too raw” but just sounding like himself.A straight-forward approach, with that special ”bite” that we associate with some of the greatbluesmen.Where does he find it? Maybe in the deep forests of Värmland, a sparsely populated region inSweden, near the Norwegian border. But mostly in his deep long-term love story with the blues,with heroes like Albert Collins, Albert and Freddie King, Luther Allison and other greatrepresentatives of modern electric blues with a twist of funk. And one thing he has in common with these musicians is that he will never play a set with only shuffles, but keeps varying his tempos and beats.
