KAREN SOUZA "ESSENTIALS II"

While Karen Souza´s voice may sound like it was made for jazz, she is in fact a relative newcomer to this genre of music. Her career began under various psydeonymns as she provided vocal support to a number of electronic music producers and was part of several International House hits. She can be found singing under these pseudonymns on albums such as Pacha Ibiza, FTV (FashionTV), Paris Dernier and Hotel Costes, privé.She had just begun to flirt with the idea of singing to jazz when she was contacted and invited to join the production of the first volume of the series, Jazz and ´80s. No one imagined the success that the series would have almost over night. The producer of the series knew a good thing when he saw it and he quickly shared his enthusiasm in the project with Karen and made her and her voice an important part of each album. Now that Karen had gotten her toes wet in the studio, her label decided it was time to dive in and they sent her and the rest of the Quartet on tour to Brazil in late 2009. The visit was a great success and Karen came into her own onstage, gaining confidence and ever tuning and refining her singing. On the heels of the Brazilian adventure, the label again stepped in and told Karen it was time to focus on her own material. To this effect they sent her to Los Angeles for a few months to work with and learn from some of the best songwriters in the business. It was there that she studied under the guidance of Pam Oland , a multiple Grammy nominated songwriter who has worked with stars like Whitney Houston, Earth, Wind and Fire and Aretha Franklin, to name a few. This period gave new direction to Karens own composing and songwriting and has helped her develop her signature sound while continuing to please fans with her characteristic lush vocals. KAREN SOUZA

KAREN SOUZA "HOTEL SOUZA"

Karen Souza è una cantante jazz americana, di origini latine, che reinterpreta classici del rock a ritmo di jazz e bossa nova. Ha realizzato anche alcuni album a suo nome, l'ultimo dei quali si intitola “Hotel Souza”. Album che propone sia materiale originale, sia cover di famosi brani jazz, soul, pop. Si può affermare che "Hotel Souza" è il suo primo vero album di debutto, dopo il successo di "Essentials". De Souza osa addirittura per la prima volta, incidere delle sue composizioni originali, come la bella e raffinata  diffusione "Paris", brano guida, che certamente non sono evidenti in questo programma di vocal jazz. Sensuale e leggera, nello stile di artisti come Melody Gardot o Diana Krall. L'album è permeato da una delicatezza di emozioni e sentimenti che la giovane promessa del jazz desidera trasmettere ai propri ascoltatori. La cantante Argentina possiede una voce che seduce e per molti è la nuova grande voce della corrente jazz. Sotto la produzione di Joel McNeely, che ha lavorato con Tony Bennet, Al Green e Peggy Lee, "Hotel Souza" è dotato di una sottigliezza , in modo che la voce di Karen flotta tra nubi di stringhe e venti di dubbio suono vintage. La registrazione di questo nuovo disco ha lasciato Karen con una grande esperienza sia personale che musicale. Esempio di questo è stata l'opportunità di registrare  accompagnato dalla banda di Marvin Gaye. "Ho avuto l'onore di registrare con grandi musicisti, tipo Marvin Gaye, ed è stata una super esperienza, perché sono colleghi con un'incredibile carriera".  KAREN SOUZA

Karen Souza è una cantante jazz latino-americana. Ha iniziato la sua carriera sotto diversi pseudonimi. Ha fornito il suo supporto vocale per un numero di produttori musicali e faceva parte di una serie di etichette discografiche importanti, e per ultimo con la Music Brokers. Il Jazz e gli anni  80 ha portato Karen alla ribalta quando ha registrato la sua versione dei Culture Club, Do You Really Want To Hurt Me? La nuova grande voce del Jazz. Mandata a Los Angeles per alcuni mesi, per lavorare e imparare da alcuni dei migliori cantautori in azienda, ha studiare sotto la guida di Pam Olanda , uno dei cantautori più nominati per il Grammy che ha collaborato con stelle come Whitney Houston e Aretha Franklin, solo per citarne alcuni. Questo periodo ha dato un nuovo senso a Karen sia sulla composizione, che con  la canzone e ha contribuito a sviluppare la sua firma e il suo suono, continuando ad appassionarsi con la sua caratteristica lussureggiante vocals.
